I havnt tried metapad but Mozilla is pretty nice for an editor

wth is that editor? is it just notepad/wordpad?

It's like a PHP specialized editor, which looks like Notepad.

Isn't there an editor NVU, or NU that is free and cross-platform? Dr Brain was telling me about it. It seemed to be pretty close to Macromedia Dreamweaver; but free.

I own Macromedia Studio MX and always have liked Dreamweaver. Though, I am looking into other editors being that I don't feel like having to pay for new versions.

Any editor that tries to hide the HTML code from you is crappy, IMO. I've seen pages written with dreamweaver, and although they may have looked good, the code was awful.
