Hey, I'm in the process of making some tiles for a zone. I need to know how to make these tiles better or what to add.
And I've been experimenting with another one too..

Seems you have a lot of duplicate tiles in your tilesets, although it doesn't matter since you also have plenty of empty space to add more new tiles in.

This is my little collection of tiles I use on almost every map I play with. The top-left blue design I made, which is used for a repeating pattern of two high by one wide. Looks pretty when it is used in much larger scale, such as a tunnel 10 tiles high. Why they are used for fly-overs in the bottom left.
The crazy colored one in the middle I did too. Why? It was random, crazy colors I picked at random from the palate. Otherwise, most of the other images are collected from other tilesets, or my own rendering of other images from other locations (such as the star, copyed from Mario rom, pixel-for-pixel). I think I made the safety zone one too, but not sure.
Having tons of angles suck in maps. Flying across them and hitting them, only to bounce at weird unpredictable angles, is horrible. Flying down tunnels of them is even worse. If you do that, I'd REALLY recommend making some fly-under be part of the angle's edge, so that you can actually get somewhat close and not hit random black boundaries.
The colors look good on your blue ones. The greyish looks too blury for my tastes, and I hope they are not used heavily. But then again, I'm horrible with graphic designs (look at my cRazY tiles I made).

Agreed, about those angles, I've never thought about that before but it actually makes sense when you put it that way. The diagonal tunnels in DSB are the worst, I always struggled to get down those and also got killed.
I think I'm going back to the drawing board, my tiles suck!

As long as you got a big enough opening i dont think diagonal tiles are that terrible...

There's no point quoting an entire post if a) it's long, b) it is the previous post in the thread.
