I have been searching through the forum for nearly an hour, but i haven't found anything that really helps. icon_sad.gif What happens is this: My zone appears in the zone list, and it appears as green with a 10 ping. Then, I try to connect and a pop up shows up saying :
Failed to connect to server. Check to make sure that the server is online and that you are currently connected to the internet.
I have Dsl, so I am always connected, and I can get on all other zones just fine. Does anyone know anything about this? icon_sad.gif

Check to make sure you dont have a firewall blocking connections to the ports the server uses. That will cuase that to happen.. If your using XP it has a firewall built in. Routers also have firewalls so if your using a router you need to adjust the settings on it also

A firewall should not affect the local loopback, except if you don't trust your own computer.

How did you add the zone to the list on Continuum?
If you just refreshed your zone list and got it in there you should try to use the following advice I gave in this thread.

Solo Ace wrote:
If it runs on the same system as you want to enter it add a costum zone in Continuum (go to "Zones" -> "Add Custom...").

The name you give to it doesn't matter, put "127.0.0.1" as the IP address, and the port number as the port the server runs on.

Enter this custom zone instead of the entry you got from the directory servers, that one is what other people should use if they want to join your server (but that's the next step: forwarding ports).

Are the consoles giving you any other errors?
Maybe both programs are listening on the same ports?

Yes, check your subbill.ini and server.ini.

[ quote from this thread ]

Subgame / biller ports need to be different from eachother.

Server.ini:
Quote:
[Billing]
IP=localhost
Port=334
ServerId=12000

[Misc]
Port=12000
ServerIP=127.0.0.1

Subbill.ini:
Quote:
[Misc]
Port=334

Notice you'll haveto change Misc:ServerIP in server.ini if you want to make your server public.

[ /quote ]

Just make sure the values with different colors are really different from eachother, otherwise, if the color matches, make sure the values match too.

---

In subbill.ini

[Misc]
Port=334

makes the biller run on port 334, so subgame can't listen for players on that port, so

server.ini

[Misc]
Port=12000

has to be different.

---

Post your ini files if you keep having problems.
