If a problem arises, and you don't have anyone online right then to help you, post your problem and the effect code section here, and there will be a couple of people usually within a hour to help you out.

Shut up deadly.

2000's problem is mainly with Dev-C++, so I'm trying to work out compiling MSVC source on it right now. It keeps complaining that #pragma once is obselete and of course offers no alternative. Should I do anything other than the standard #define trick?

I don't not like you for no reason. In fact, I don't even not like you at all!

I did get irritated because
1)

is very immature, and 2) he gets ticked when people ask really stupid coding questions. He's definitely helpful if you ask intelligent ones (if he happens to be on). So saying that will just make less experienced forum members be scared of getting flamed and therefore stay away. We don't want that.

Explody is very helpful. And he is right, if you dont know how to program you shouldnt make bots, deadly. Im not sure if it was you, but i told someone that i would not talk to them about mervbot anymore until he learned how to program in c++. Your not dealing with some script that wont work, you can potentially crash a computer with your code or someone's mervbot. There are already enough people that are clueless about how to use mervbot, the last thing they need is to you use one of your plugins and have it crash every 5 seconds. Its appauling that you would place mervbot requests on your website and not know how to program. Deadly, learn to program.

I learned to program while trying to create plugins, I had no idea what I was doing though but eventually I got it to work with the help from others.

But well, I agree, learn to program before releasing plugins, otherwise they will be as crappy as my first plugins. icon_smile.gif

Sure. sa_tongue.gif

I wouldn't have tried to write those bot plugins if there was no better reason than messing with them, not that I do much with the language now.

But what you just said is retarded, you know a little C++ otherwise you can't make bot plugins, these people are just telling you to learn what you are doing.
I'm sure your bot plugins suck if you just create them without knowing what you are actually doing.
I started the same way as you though, and learned from it, I think you will too eventually.

Oh look I can call others nerds, oh look I use "u" instead of "you", LOOK AT ME IM K00L. icon_confused.gif

Just about stupid things. Theres another tutorial out there, on ssforum, although I believe the previously posted one is just an extension of the one on ssforum.

And point of reference, I dont think I know a single programmer who will seek out people, unless they want something in return. try contacting them via ss, ICQ, AIM etc.

Heres another point for the heap: If you know how to program you probably won't make plugins. *cough* MERV *cough*

Anyways... If you need help with your C++ and dev-cpp then I would be happy to assist if youre cunning enough to catch me on msn. However I can't and won't help you with MERV as I'd probably just be wasting your time cursing its ... uh? ... design? ... tongue.gif

So if I handle your C++ problems then I bet you can persuade splody and mmav to help you with your MERV issues.

I'm still trudging through it. Of course, MingW has problems with __int64 in some of the windows stuff, but I think I fixed that now. There's still a few other errors I need to get resolved.

Oh, and about #pragma once, I just took it cheap and surrounded it by #ifdef _MSC_VER.

k, tell him to turn off the 64bit portability detection, he isnt compiling for a 64bit chip so he wont need to have 64 bit variables in his program.
Project->properties->C/C++->Detect 64-bit portibility issues then turn it off

Just for the record: You can in fact have 64 bit integers in Dev-C++ (gcc) - the type is
Code: Show/Hide
long long
Well go figure... icon_wink.gif

LOL

You dont need to kno C++ to make a plugin.. as long as you know what all the events are, know how to do int, bool, and String, add, subtract, know p->name and shit like that, etc, you can do it..

and i can do it cuz i know that shit + more merv stuff

Huh? Is that in version 4 of Dev-C++? And __int64 is not necessarily a 64-bit processor datatype.

Yeah, I knew that. It's just that "__int64" itself is a problem.

Sorry, talking about VC++ .net and i bet you can turn off those errors in dev-c++ too. A long long is a 64 bit variable and if you dont have a 64 bit microprocessor then the compiler will make a bunch of extra code to handle that 64 bits by spliting it up into 2 32bit chuncks.

Deadly, you dont know any C++, you mimic other people's code. Monkeys can do the same thing.

Actually, I got the newest version of Dev-C++ (and therefore MinGW), and bless me heart it worked... I think.
