Im trying to build a zone. I have been playing Continuum for awhile now and want to try to run my own now. So I need some suggestions on programs I need to mod/edit/create my server/zone.
Right now I got Server14.exe running on Windows. I got the lvz tookit and assume its for compressing files to a lvz format. Which I assume I can put graphics, sounds and so forth with a ini file telling it where to be put and how to use.
Q: If I make a small graphic lvz file and tell it where to put the graphics on the tilesets, where do I put this lvz file so the players will load it on connecting to the game. (Im use to servers having there own folders in the server directory to outline this is where all server files will be).
Another thing is shipsets. I downloaded some shipset editors. Not really editors though. All the shipsets are in bmz format. So I can't edit it with like photoshop.
Q: If I download the ships.zip of each ship off SubSpace, edit them and put them into a shipset editor, will it convert them to the bmz file and a ship.set file?
Q: Where do I put my new shipset so the server loads it and the players can use the new ship designs.
Also about modding the controls, ships and what not. Where can I find a good program to do so. So I can fully customize the game?

| Just found out how to edit the zone configuration with wordpad to open cfg file. So busy, didn't have time to look right now. But the question of how to add "Catchs - script/coded junk to fully customize" and so forth still remains. |

Ok, for one, the server is subgame2.exe.
Secondly, the ships are probably in bm2 format, which is just a renamed bitmap. To edit them in photoshop, just rename them to bmp.
Thirdly, once you have all your ships make, stick them in an lvz file, and put them (using *putfile or just explorer if local) in your root server directory. Then in server.cfg, find Misc:LevelFiles and add the lvz filename there. _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. Thanks, but what if im modding a piece of the game. Do I like use a text file do add some sorta scripting lang to convert to a lvz file then add it to server.cnf as I would the shipsets? Like for example if I want the game to remember people and put them on a certain frequency when they login. If there is a scripting lang it uses, what scripting lang is it? VB?
Im only assuming that's how it works. People use a script lang and write it in textpad then save it to be compressed/converted to a lvz file so they can put it in the server directory to be ran in server.cfg.

There is a script that tells buildlevel.exe how to make the .lvz. The .lvz format can only be used to transfer alternative images/sounds to the players computer with the option of making some of the image objects toggleable.
If you want to remember players you will probably want a bot. If you really want scripting, ASSS 'supports' Python. |

I forget exactly what a .set file is, but Continuum doesn't use them - that was for SubSpace
you can just add ship images in lvz as Cyan~Fire explained

you don't really need a program to modify settings
a copy of template.sss (included in server.zip) may come in handy, but the same descriptions will be available if you access settings in-game by pressing ESC, then C |
