Yeah , So I wrote my exam for Math 10 Today.
I had about..55-60% in Math going into the test.
I was told I needed 30% on the test to pass math 10. How does that all work out. Im not great with percentages. The test was hella hard. Im sure about 15/60 Questions that I got right, im 100% sure I got those 15 right. Other things I was half sure so I might have got around 30/60 If im very lucky.
The test is worth 20% of my final mark. So, how does that work? Does it take 20% of my final grade? Could someone (Brain) shed some light on this for me please.
Passing grade is 50% this year at my school. Woot Woot. It was 60% last year. |

I had a class where I finished with a 35% and was in the top 10% of the class. Go go Fourier Transforms! |

Isn't the point of School, to actually learn your material?
By the way, if you had actually 15 questions right on the test, you would have 49%-53% on your total grade. If you needed 30% to pass, you would need to have a 50%-54% to pass.
I can see you're not at all good in math, if you can't figure out this simple equation. |

You're such a douchebag, Brain.
And blah-er, shut up, as usual. There are different standards of difficulties for tests. For example, in International Baccalaureate testing, a 4/7 is passing, because the tests are hard. _________________ This help is informational only. If your withing a few percent shy of 50, they bring you in for a week after everyone gets out to get you up there. |

You have to remember, teachers like to do exams differently. Image an exam that is designed for two hours. Take it in 50 minutes. Image a teacher who likes to design every single problem to be difficult and tricky, so you will fail. I think the high for anyone was 51%.
The reason I got a 35% was because I did about half the problems, and most of them were right. I knew the material, but the teacher like to grade like this, and made it clear in the beginning. A friend of mine had a Physics professor where it was impossible to have a higher grade than your first day. Why? Because he didn't like grades, so instead he took off points. You did a problem but wrong answer? Eh, -5. Didn't hand in lab report? Lets make that -50 this time. Did a problem the wrong way, in such a way that he warned you not to do it in lecture? -5,000. He'd rather you not do a problem than to fake it.
I believe he gave the final grades by just ranking everyone and drawing lines saying this group gets A's, B's, etc. |
