Okay, so I decide I'll update my site from SMF 1.0.8 to 1.1.11, and, being not in my right mind for the simple fact I've not slept in the past 30 hours, I didn't back up. The update totally fubar'd my site, and I ended up having to spend the past four hours, time I should of been napping before my EMT-B class, fixing the mess I created...
... I swear, if I could kick my own nuts right now I would. |

I use subversion on the forums and wiki. So anytime I make changes, can revert them or see the history easily. When applying patches or security updates, easy to revert. Take daily snapshots of the SQL as well, and always take them right before applying a patch and afterwards, and store those in a seperate folder so they won't be wiped later on, so I can keep the changes that the patch applied to the tables. |

that update is nasty, i was in the fortunate position of it being easier just to remove 1.0.8 and install 1.1.11 as the forum was empty _________________ Rediscover online gaming. Get Subspace | STF The future...prehaps |

Yeah, I think it's the security features fuxing up everything, but I don't know. I do know when I did do a fresh install I had to clear all my cookies before it let me log in as my Admin account.
Luckily, WiredHub still had a copy of my database and they returned the site back to normal. It's back on 1.0.8, but I'll probably wait until after the new year and back up my DB then reinstall the database after I do a delete and fresh install. |
