Right click the start button, go to Properties, click the Start Menu tab, and click the Customize button.

Make folders and put things into them. Thus, each one is compressed nicely under another folder. Every game doesn't need to be in their own folder. Every compiler doesn't need its own section. Every CD burning software doesn't need 50 icons in a folder.
Also programs that are easily accessable via another method, such as Desktop or Quicklaunch, don't need to be in the start menu.

I also put a Frequent Folder at the top of my XP start menu so most of the stuff I need I don't even have to go into Programs for _________________

Doesn't XP manage your frequent stuff for you, though? _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. User assumes all risk of use. Cyan~Fire assumes no responsibility for any loss or delay resulting from such use.

You could download a docking system instead of using the start menus. _________________ Haha SpecShip

So what you're saying, d1s, is that it doesn't work properly when you disable it? Hmmm. Dunno how to fix that.

XP hides the unused menus in classic start menu fine on my laptop. And on my work desktop. _________________ Oldbie Server Help

Ack, I hate those stupid "personalized menus". They just get in the way.
