Hey I know I am new here, but I need a message board with free os and not exactly much setting up to be required. I have a server here waiting for an os and it will be my messageboard. I cannot launch my site without this as I have advertised forums on the site on launch.
Please help me ASAP
Thanks for everybody's time

By the way I would just like to say that it would be useful if I could have some message board software which you just download, burn to disk and install on your server. |

I'm sorry to inform you, but these forums here are for the assistance in running the server software for a game called Subspace. We don't deal with operating systems or message boards, though I recommend you check out such places as PhpBB or PunBB for simple to use, and free forum software.
As for operating systems, based upon your descriptions, your knowledge seems to be lacking. If you have a computer server sitting waiting upon you installing an operating system, you have a lot more to learn before you even begin to deal with hosting a website. Choosing something such as Windows with its IIS host software, or Linux with Apache on a disto of Redhat, Ubunutu, Slackware, etc is a semi-complicated choice you'd need to make based upon you knowledge of the two different operating systems.
What seems most likely for you, is that you have bought webspace somewhere. They'd most likely given you some sort of FTP access, where you can upon files to. All of the server options and such have been already setup for you, where if you go to your domainname.com right now, it will display some generic page. If this is true, go with the two links above and read their tutorials on how to use their forum software. |
