You know why? Since the bot is considered a subspace client (not Continuum) and it needs special ("vip") access to the zone so the server ignores the fact that the bot doesn't use Continuum encryption for its packets. _________________

I've never had to place a MERV's name in the vip.txt.

Why's that, anyone know? _________________ SSE Network Administrator |

				MMav explained it already.

MERV enters using the SubSpace protocol and client, so it'll need special access to enter a zone (unless you allow VIE clients in [should be a setting in server.ini]). |

Because you're probably running with full subspace access.

That or you gave it staff access. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

Even with staff access you need to have the bot on vip.txt AFAIK.

Other option you could do is give the bot the *vip password, then it wouldn't be necessary aswell. (People from DS used to / are doing that) |

Well, I gave it staff access.

And Brain, what do you mean, "full subspace access"? |

Means you set your server up to not require Continuum. |
