I wouldn't do it for $5000. I could work at McDonald's and make that much money in less time. _________________ 4,691 irradiated haggis!

Aparently you never worked there, nor know anyone else who has (Shanky's first job). They don't pay very well and most of the management is ~25 years old, and thus have no clue what they are doing. |

$5000 / ($7 / hour) = 714 hours / (40 hrs / week) = 18 weeks = ~4 months |

The question is really if you'd want someone who's too clueless to look up how much you're really paying to program something as complex as a game client. It's one of those damned if he does damned if he doesn't kind of things. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

I'd imagine someone like Ekted, you'd have to pay much more than 7/8$ an hour. heh. most software egineers from what i've gathered are 30+$/hr. _________________ Performance is often the art of cheating carefully. - James Gosling |

Where I used to work, you got $30/hour right out of college, and those were the rank-and-file programmers. |

Ah yes but as many companies are now finding out out-sourcing is costing much more than having their internal programmers do it. We had several large corporations come in and speak at my college and they were saying that this is the case. The only thing they really find beneficial is that there is a 24-hour development cycle. Say the US releases code, the team in India (or w/e) can bug-test it during the night (of the US) so when the devteam comes back into the office the following day they can fix what was newly found. etc.
But yeah, these outsourcing companies were starting to do "packages" which they hide a bunch of fee's etc etc- they end up saying we'll do this project for 1.5mill; when it would cost the company itself about 600k$ with their own team.
So it seemed to have some good news with that. The rest of the "Career day" was depressing lol |

I should goto print with thinkgeek about this.
Haha, you people are total nerds.
Frankly Ekted, you wouldn't do it for $50,000 either.
You lack motivation and dedication for SS.
