Zone Port = 2004
Biller Port = 2000
Directory Port = 4991

What type do I put in my routor? Like, UDP or TCP or Both. Please list them for me like this:

Zone Port = TCP
Biller Port = UDP
Directory Port = BOTH

Thanks.

ITs all UDP.

So activate ports 2004, 2005, and 2000 on your router. The directory servers are not on your computer so you dont need to open them.

You don't need to open your biller port if you aren't providing billing for someone else (or another computer).

Ports__
2000 - UDP
2004 - UDP
2005 - UDP

Still doesn't work. The zone just turns red but shows in directory server list. It's called 'FAST Test Zone'.

Here are my computer stats if there is a problem with my computer or something:

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ @ 1.91 GHz
640 MB DDR PC2700 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200

Thank you,
Regards,

When you said it comes up red, which computer are you attempting this from? If from the same machine, change your zone.dat file, so it uses localhost as the zone's IP instead of your WAN IP.

If from another computer, see if you can ping your IP. Do a trace to see where the packets stop.

HOLY CRAP MGB YOU OWN MY SOCKS!

I've never been able to enter a zone on my computer, but when I added a custom using the loopback ip (127.0.0.1), I was able to. You are officially the best

Lol.

Btw, you can use 'Add Custom...' in the zone menu instead of having to edit zone.dat.

Darnit man. I added 192.168.X.X as IP for Custom thing, and it showed green with a ping, I try connecting and in console of my subgame, it says: Client Connection Request from Billing Server Ignored. Never ever seen one of those in my life. Anyway, I then pressed ESC when it was trying to connect - I was back in the Continuum menu, my zone was still green, and its ping was either 10ms 24/7 forever or 20ms 24/7 forever, I waited for a couple seconds, then it turned red.

This is my server.ini
-+BREAK+-

[Billing]
LogMessages=1
IP=192.168.2.8
Password=lc
//What is the billing pw in the subbill.ini
ServerName=FAST Test Zone
//Zone name

ServerId=2004
//Make the same as in [Misc] Port=
GroupId=1
ScoreId=2004
//Make the same as in [Misc] Port=
ReconnectTime=12000
AttemptTime=6400
-+BREAK+-
Ok, this is my subbill.ini thing.
-+BREAK+-
[Misc]
AllowNewUsers=1
SysopPassword=lc
//Change to Billing Sysop Password, usless anyways..
BillingPassword=lc
//Change this to whatever you want, also match it with the server.ini [Billing] section too
MaxQueueForLogin=100
LowPriority=1
KickOutDelay=60000
Port=2000
-+BREAK+-
I'll try changing IP in server.ini to localhost, if that doesnt work, then I'll wait for replies - or ill just reply to this again saying its fixed or whatever

I dont know?! My IP in winipcfg is 192.168.2.8. Ports 2000, 2004, 4991, are open on UDP and TCP. (And those are the ONLY ports in my server.ini/subbill.ini) Oh and localhost is invalid if u try Custom button thing. Any ideas? If I can host Halflife servers just by having some ports open for it (27015, etc), then I can do this with any program. Sooo..must be something with my *.ini's?

Open port 2005 UDP (zone port +1), thats what continuum uses to "ping" the zone. In server.ini, change the server's ip to "localhost". You can close port 4991 since the service isnt on your machine. In the Continuum "Add Custom Zone" window, use 192.168.2.8, port 2004

::Routor::
2000 - TCP & UDP
2004 - TCP & UDP
2005 - TCP & UDP

::Server.ini::
IP=localhost

::Add Custom::
Zone=FAST Test Zone
IP=192.168.2.8
Port=2004

I done this in order and it shows up in green for a bit with a frozen ping number (not zero) and then turns red.

Sorry about double post above - my browser somehow submited during the middle of my typing. But anyway - I owe you my sox. I thought it would turn it, but my computer is soo 1337 (tongue.gif) and my connection good that it displays 10ms for me 24/7. ^_^ Add FAST Test Zone and tell me its ping.

icon_cry.gif I'm soo sorry for this quad-post. But 2000, 2004, 2005, are open on UDP and TCP and still turns red. I added this into my zone.bak and .dat.

FAST Free Zone,192.168.2.8,2004,,1
#Read news on getting this zone as yours.
FAST Free Zone,localhost,2004,,1
#Read news on getting this zone as yours.
FAST Free Zone,12.218.108.98,2004,,1
#Read news on getting this zone as yours.

It worked for a while, but then when i exited some other zone, they were all red. With this configuration, each time i went into continuum menu, or refreshed list, only ONE of the three would be green - a *random one* of the three would be green. :'( Maybe I should quit trying.

Create a username so you can edit your posts.

So you're still getting this "client connection request ignored" message? If so, it's not a problem with port forwarding (although it sounds like something's screwed with your zone list).

Actually, I haven't been getting that since I listened to Explody's last post - or since I had 2000, 2004, and 2005 on UDP and TCP. It's like, CONTINUUM with the problem. I swear its continuum. I even got a debug crash error when trying to right click on a zone - never in my life have I gotten an error like that for Continuum. It even asked me to debug it. Continuum is a punk-face. icon_mad.gif I give up. Someone close this topic please.

MGB doesn't close topics aroung here.

I'd say delete your zone.dat since you probably screwed with it enough that Continuum's crashing. Continuum just doesn't crash.

Are you sure your LAN IP is 192.168.2.8? That's an odd one.

Local area networks get the following network ranges they can run under. My personal LAN uses 192.168.20.*, so its not that awkward.
  • 10.0.0.0 - A class A network. You can conceivably have over 16 million computers on this network.
  • 172.16.0.0 through 172.31.0.0 - 16 class B networks. You can conceivably have over 64 thousand computers on each network.
  • 192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.0 - 256 class C networks. You can conceivably have over 250 computers on each network.

Actually, even if I delete my zone.dat, it doesn't do anything. It was my Continuum Client itself doing that debug error. Anyway, I have to add FAST Free Zone from the download list itself, and then manually add ANOTHER of the same thing but using 192.168.2.8 as the ip. Then it randomly goes green for one of the two each time I join/exit/start a zone/continuum up.

Status Report:
ABOVE - This only happens to me on my computer that I host it off of. I only have one computer, so that one compy is this, and the compy I host off of is this.

Other people can see my zone perfectly fine the way it SHOULD be for me, etc.

Yeah, that's how it usually works. Although I think adding the zone from the directory servers is an unnecessary step.
