Is it possible to run a subspace server from my computer using a DDNS?
Using a Dlink WBR-2310, I tried using the Dlink free DDNS thing, but once i put in my static IP and port into the "Add Custom" box in Continuum it doesn't connect to the server.

Write a script that will do the dns lookup and place the appropriate ip in zones.dat, and then start continuum, then get everyone to switch over and use it.
Actually, in the zone description some have a dns attribute... like hz has
ss://zone.rshl.org/
and tw has ss://server.trenchwars.org/
I know the client scrapes the description for links for the websites... it might do the same for dns lookups on zone ip addresses
edit: some clues in continuum changelog
Quote: |
fixed zone dns lookup (still another related bug)
...
added zone dns name fix for corrupted zone.dat files
|
edit2: old topic about it (even with Gravitron!!):

Bob Dole.. Bob Dole... Bob Dole...... bob dole.... bob... dole.... wrote: | In the server.ini:
Description=ss://your.dns Blablablablablabla
ss:// links only work when they are at the beginning of the description for some reason... (the only way i got them to work)
The ip is not updated by the server, but by continuum
It takes cntm a few seconds to do that, so your zone will appear red for about 6 seconds and then turn green. |

edit: solved within PM. I deleted everything from server.ini:Directory:Description except the ss//mydns |
