Ok, im sure there is a post somewhere on here about this but im not about to go thru 80 pages of posts to see.

I was wondering if and how a zone can be hosted on a gentoo linux
server.

Use AS3, or use Subgame with Wine.

Doc Flabby has a guide on here(somewhere, I couldn't find it) that tells you how to install wine and subgame on a Linux distro, if you don't already know how to use Wine, but AS3 will run on Linux natively(and actually better than Windows).

That link has no references to running subgame with wine.

Take a look at the ASSS Wiki, which has lots of resources and guides for working with ASSS, such as a setup guide. ASSS is an open source server software originally designed for Linux, so it will work nicely under Gentoo, which is where I did all my testing for it (out side of Windows).
