In my experience, it's faster, has more features, and is coded better (requires php4 instead of doing all this backwards-compatibility crap that chokes up phpbb).

Default's post didn't solve the problem of me still seeing the posts Spyed makes on the ssi forum, only that I won't see any private messages he sends me.

I believe those kind of forums don't have a user ignore feature.
They all copy from the vbulletin/UBB system which lacks this option by default.
So unless someone take the time to understand how to add a module to them and assuming someone made such a module, you can't ignore someone.
