Please help a new bot dev:
The links to mervbot.com and hardwerk.com/... are down. All of the code that I've found assumes some includes in compilation, such as algorithms.h, dllcore.h, etc. How can I develop a bot without these includes (and corresponding cpp's, of course)?
Also, next topic, catid used to have a VB version of Merv, but site says that support is dropped. Was that for technical reasons (ie., VB sucked) or just moved on to C++ and didn't carry on support? I've seen the C++, VB and Java ports, and it looks like as long as you can send/receive UDP, you're in good shape irrespective of language. True? |

VB wasn't able to handle the load, I think. Catid had a lot of several features of the bot built into it- seriously pushing it to its max imho. The SS protocol in which all bots (known to us) run on UDP with the Subspace 1.34 protocol (which you can find on the wiki using links above)...
Even with MervBot, writen in C++, Catid has pretty much stopped any active development on it. _________________ Performance is often the art of cheating carefully. - James Gosling |
