You should really make a new post instead of putting one in here.... you get help faster that way. Make sure all of the ip's are correct.... pc's change ips all the time.

afaik, i dont need to my pcs specific ip address anywhere for a zone to work, just stuff like 127.0.0.1 or localhost, which just points to the ip anyway, whatever it may be

and the old zone worked fine..but strange how it doesnt now, :/

We're talking about forwarding. If you have a router, then most likely your forwarding settings are old/gone.

Your ISP shouldn't affect your router ports. icon_confused.gif

Then get a better router. LinkSys is awesome, and was made by Cisco Systems. icon_smile.gif

Any router should work. Are you positively sure you have the ports forwarded correctly?

Maybe your "modem" (ADSL/Cable) doesn't forward the ports to your router?

Maybe your current ISP blocks connect attempts to the port your server is hosted on?

Maybe the port you're running your zone on is in use?

Can you connect to it using "127.0.0.1" as the IP and the port it's running on?

you are able to do local zone hosting, meaning that you and anyone on the router <including hubs/switches connected to the router> will be able to connect to the zone, but anyone on the outside will not. If you are planning on having zone with population, get a host. But, if you just want to dev the zone, host it yourself, or get someone like cyan~fire to host it.

<But take my zone spot and i'll kill you! tongue.gif>

In order to do Local Zone Hosting, simply host the zone < no router configing needed> Open continuum, click on the zones thing, hit "Add Custom" type the zone port and a name <does not have to be the zones name> type "127.0.0.1" or, if that doesnt allow you in, your local IP. If you have XP, open cmd, type "ipconfig /all" and look for the ip, should be something like "192.168.1.100" or something.

Enter the zone, play.

If 127.0.0.1 doesn't work, there's a big problem that won't be solved by using your IP.

ok, i just managed to connect to it by adding it to my zone list manually,

it wont connect on 127.0.0.1, localhost, or 127.14.152.152(my "public" ip according to the router)

it will connect however to 127.16.1.33 (my ip as shown in the ipconfig)

but i could only connected by editing my zone.dat and adding that ip manually
because when the zone is downloaded from the list, it automatically takes the server ip as 127.44.52.152, which doesnt connect

icon_neutral.gif i think i missed something somewhere

Then it's definitely a port forwarding problem, since it's occuring somewhere between the outside world and your LAN.

Ok I am having the same problem. Years ago I had a zone up but now I have a Router and a Firewall up. It does the connecting, but when I add the zone from the list it just has a 0 ping then turns red. I can't enter it, I know what Port Forwarding is, however I have no idea what ports this uses.

I dunno about your router but networkeverywhere and linksys had a setting called Block WAN Request that even with the ports forwarded it would block them.... It had to be disabled... go to your router brand's site and search the tech support for a feature like that...
