So I snagged the server binaries and followed the instructions at Shanky.com/server to get my own zone running behind our firewall. My bro-in-law was over and we wanted some 1:1 versus joining a public zone.
Problem is, either/both of us kept getting knocked off the server saying that there was too much delay. I was running the subgame2, subbill, and continuum 0.38 (also tried 0.39) on one PC (IP addr 192.168.0.3) and he was running C 0.38 on the other PC (IP addr 192.168.0.4).
Even if I tried to play just by myself in the zone, I would get kicked out after a few seconds with an error about packet loss/delay between server/client.
Can you run all the components on one PC like that? Any special configuration bits I might need to do if so? It all worked well enough that the two server bits were communicating fine it seemed. I tried tinkering with delay timeouts, etc, but that just let us stay in a LITTLE longer.
We were both on 54g wireless connections on the router, so surely latency shouldn't have been an issue either.
Thanks in advance for help!!!
edit: here is a snippit from subgame2.exe when I am playing by myself on the machine.

I am not familiar with your problem, but keep in mind the combination of subgame + subbill eats up quite a bit of processor. That could cause your problem.
How to prevent Subgame from using 100% of the CPU?

Sounds like your Latency:KickOutDelay for that arena is too low. Mine is set around 1000. (Remember it's in centiseconds, not seconds.) _________________ This help is informational only. I actually set mine even way up to like 24000. With the server and client both running on the same system, I don't see how there should ever be any delay of any significance, right?
I did do the trick to get the CPU down from 100% but no help there. Tonight I'm going to try putting the server(s) on a different machine in my network, just to see if anything different happens.

Are you sure you gave it time to update the settings when you set it to 24000? I mean, I can't imagine any other problem with times that small.

Yah, I actually restarted the whole PC and same deal.
Now, when I'm running the server components locally, are they still trying to communicate to anything else out on the internet? I'm wondering if that's part of the problem, because I haevn't opened anything up on the firewall for that type of situation. Right now I have Misc:ServerIP set to 127.0.0.1 btw.
<edit> I just setup passthrough on my router and put my real IP as ServerIP but nogo</edit>
I just tried running the subbill/subgame on a different PC and connecting to it from my laptop but had the same issue:
Connection request from: mota
Arena Created: () using parameters: D:\server14\server.cfg
Player entering game: mota
