ONLINE SCANNERS
www.bitdefender.com
www.antivirus.com
www.pandasoftware.com
Depending on your operating system, some will work better than others and some wont work at all. They all require internet explorer. You can almost always tell if you have a virus; your computer will slow down or you will notice something unusual. Become familiar with the usual process that run on your computer and clean up as much adware and unneeded programs as possable. Dont open attachments from email unless they are sent through hotmail or some other company that scans the email. Only download porn on kazaa, downloading programs becomes risky. Have a firewall, a router one would probably be best but a software firewall will work nicely too. Update your computer on www.windowsupdate.com and keep up to date. Download and use firefox and possably another email client. I personally dont like thunderbird but there are others that are nice. AVG's antivirus scanner is limited, it really doesnt do that good of a job but it will detect them. Ive used it to clean up virus ridden computers and it just wasnt getting the job done. But I guess you get what you pay for. |

Aside from what you might download on purpose, your biggest threats are Internet Explorer and Outlook. Do not use either, ever, except Internet Explorer for Windows Update and ONLY for that purpose.
When you aren't using Internet Explorer for Windows Update, you should have it set to its highest security.

Hmm I do all of this stuff. Except I don't download porn from Shareaza I download programs (got some good ones this way).
My Friend told me about www.Pcpitstop.com. I dunno just doesn't work the way I want to I will try out some of 50%s (I don't like the IE part though IE on my comp gets an assload of adaware) and probably Avast. |

My tip is to never use a P2P service other than BitTorrent. If you're the illegal type guy, might as well check out isoHunt to download all your programs and stuff. |

Not all filesharing. BitTorrent has the most users than any other P2P which is why I suggested it. And besides, BitTorrent is actually LEGAL. |

Acutally, all filesharing services are legal. The legality depends on their use. |

Uh, you can't ask BitTorrent for an opinion, you can google for user opinions.
He asked for good virus protection software, not for a way to download one. |
