...LOL. Why the fuck should my avatar be a smilie? What is the smilie supposed to mean? (If it ever became a smilie... which I seriously doubt...)

Well, after installing Gentoo I'm starting to get used to the messing with commands and the way unix/linux systems work, but this went easier than I thought it would go.
I have a small Hewlett Packard e-vectra PC here which I wanted to put FreeBSD on.
On my main Linux box I'm running Gentoo, but the HP box is pretty old, and the ethernet controller in it isn't supported by current kernels so Linux sucked on it and both Gentoo/SuSE didn't like the network card.
Before saying "put a newer ethernet card in it", if you'd see the box you'd understand why that's impossible.
There are no PCI slots in it, and there is no room for anything else in it, because it's so small (~ the size of 4 internal CD drives ).
I was hoping FreeBSD would support the onboard ethernet controller.
Gotta put the hard drive back in the HP to test (had to install FreeBSD using another system since there's no way to connect a CD drive to the HP).
There we go.

I hope so.
While booting it only found the local loopback.
Hm, the "drive activity" light stays on and the hard drive is making some nasty soun.. nvm it stopped.
Hm it found the interface, time to see if it actually works.
Edit: It works!

hmm I seemed to turn this already useless chat (about avatars) to another useless chat about the success of Solo Ace in getting BSD to work with an ethernet card YAY!
By the way congrats on your ability to get your ethernet card working Solo Ace.
