				| Going to buy a new harddrive for a PC I've got laying around gathering dust, and I'm curious - what version of linux would be suggested for someone thats a complete newb to learn off of on? Not wanting to be a power user, not yet anway, I just want to start dabling. |

				Mandrake is really the only option.
 
 
Fedora is a possiblity, but you don't want to mess with the others MGB mentioned. At least not yet. The exception is Knoppix, but thats not really for day to day use. |

It doesn't really matter.  You can learn how to use Linux from any Linux distro.  The question is if you want to force yourself to learn how to use Linux to duplicate a Windows-like environment, or if you just want a Windows-like environment to feel comfortable and just learn when you feel like it. |

				| Do you want to use this as a replacement for your main machine, or as a secondary computer? If secondary, I'd recommend Gentoo. Very good one to learn with, as long as you don't plan on using that as your main machine for a week or so until you get used to it. |
