Lets say i draw text in adobe and save it as bmp, doesnt facts allow me to open that up and save it as a lvl? so that the text is on my map (without the hastle of copying it onto the map "pixel-by-pixel")? |

fACTS doesnt do TEXT... per se.. its not going to print "letter tiles" to your map"
her is what it DOES do:
takes a 1024X1024 picel bmp and translates the pixels according to color into a lvl file... so if you color all one wall tile type pink it will use a specific wall tile definition, and green for another, so on....
YOU PROVIDE:
the tileset
the walltile definitions (which tiles do what, like corners)
the bmp
hope this helps.. get it to work and you will love it, god loves those FACTS guys... _________________ Signatures just seem so quaint. |

How do i "provide" the tileset? What i do is simply make a 1024x1024 image and at the top i write in the text i want to be on the map, it has no blurred edges its all one flat color. What i do is save it as test.bmp and in facts i click on the "map" tab, then click on convert, browse for "test.bmp" and open it. Then facts runs it and says "an error has accured". It produces test.lvl but its blank.
If you could, simply guide me thru the steps of "putting my text on the map" |

You are doing it more or less right.
You need a tileset
OR
You are using a wrong colour
Or you didn't read MGB's post about bug reports and the error message wasn't just "Error" _________________ 3y3 4m l33t h4x0r

You supply the tileset when it asks for it... |

the "tileset is a mbp file attached to the front of a lvl. if you do not supply one , it will use the default. to tuse EG's hit fil >import itleset and find the EG MAP file and open in. save.
or you could choose the EG map file when FACTS DOES ask which tiles you would like to use... before you define the blocks that are walltiles |
