Okay so I hav a mp3 i want to put in as victoryl.wa2 (the victory music %102) but the piece of crap wont run when i press %102. i get the generic one. now the music is abuot 1 minute with nothing other than instruments. oh and btw, i renamed the .mp3 to .wa2 to make sure it runs with continuum. therefore, what i did was export the mp3 into a wav file but now it's like 13 MB big, any ideas?

Zip up the file, put it on a website and tell people to download it from there (it'll be faster than downloading ingame anyway). I think you may be able to add this to the 'all-in-one webinstaller' that sscentral.com has.

Well I looked at the your gfx.lvz you were talking about before and I noticed that you had that victoryl.wa2 as 44.1kHz, 16-bit, and stereo. I'm sure the quality wasn't that high, and I really doubt whether anyone will care about 16-bit stereo for the victory music. icon_razz.gif

If someone just wants to checkout the zone they won't want to wait for a huge download. If they decide they like the zone and are planning to comeback again they can then download the music from a website.
As cyan says, stereo isn't needed and I don't even know if mp3->wav even does 44khz justice (assuming mp3 is radio quality and wav can be cd quality).

okay so say i DO tell them to download it from a website...exactly how would they play it during the continuum game? what should be the continuum settings?

They would need to probably extract (if in a zip/rar) the file into /continuum/zones/<zone name/lvzname.lvz

And set your levelfiles=lvzname.lvz

I think

wav files are big =_=

btw i think the max size limit (.lvl, .lvz etc. is around 4mb for continuum

Implement junk?
I would just put victoryl.wav in a zip file, no point messing with levelfiles and stuff. Then tell them to extract it to the zone folder. I'm not sure if XP supports .rar, I've seen it open .zip files without 3rd party software.

what would be the best rate for a wa2 file for continuum? in Hz

Whatever you want. Get the right mix between size and quality. I think I used ~22kHz for my victoryl.wa2, but it was a rather small loop.

Continuum can't read MP3's thats why I said the mp3 junk ie: mp3 player for the sounds.. waves are good but normally large; making it boring for modem users to dload, even when they're compressed.

They shouldn't have to rename anything if you zip up victoryl.wav. Don't put it in LevelFiles or any .lvz as it will increase download time. Just unzip to zone folder.

Any gfx/sfx in a zone folder will replace what is in continuum/graphics or continuum/sound for that zone only. People commonly put custom bomb gfx in their folders so they can see how big the prox/damage is on bombs. (I use high visibility bullets myself).
