images in a shipset are switched as a player rotates around in a circle, so you could make the lights flash by opening the shipset in a image editor and coloring the lights, switching which sides the colors are on each time on each image rotation

There's a suggestion in the Continuum database to have ship-relative LVZ objects. This would allow a bot to place animations on or under ships and have them move smoothly with them. All sorts of cool possibilities here.

you know, you could just make an animated shipset with the lights flashing and rotate that with each part of the animation icon_wink.gif

2 reasons why this hasn't been done yet:
1) This would require ctm to rotate the gfx itself, otherwise the server will constantly be sending lvz toggle packets so the rotation is always synced.
2) Ship relative lvz are exclusive to bots and asss modules as players probably wouldn't know everyone's ID, therefore making it difficult for newbs to understand or use.

With that said I hope this feature comes in the next release of ctm. Even without access to 'the Continuum database' to see when this was submitted, I don't think we will see it anytime soon.
