Hi there. As you can see, I'm yet another total newbie when it comes to making zones who has a problem that needs resolving. I?ve searched through this forum to see if this question has been addressed before, (turning up nothing) and have even submitted an E-mail at Shanky.com. But I realize now that it?ll take a loooong time for the mail to be read - let alone answered. That, and I?m pretty sure that I only succeeded in confusing them with the E-mail, so I?ll try asking here.

Basically, I want to alter the firing angle of the ?single fire? mode on some ships. I?ll use the Spider as an example, as it will be one of these ships. It will have multi fire, and the two extra bullets it provides will be angled to fire 90 degrees from either side. This, I have already accomplished. My problem is that I want to do the same to the single fire guns (set to fire two shots). So instead of firing two out of the sides and two straight ahead, (like the Terrier in Trench wars) I want the singe fire bullets going parallel with the multi fire. While the Spider will always fire from the sides, regardless of multi fire being on or off, two other ships, Terrier and Weasel I wish to have it change, depending on which mode is open.

The Terrier is the lesser in regards to this problem, for I have already angled it?s shots. All I want to do with it is to disable its main cannon when multi fire is engaged. As the example, when it?s in single fire mode, it will fire one shot straight ahead. But when multi is turned on, I want to rig it so ONLY the two multi fire shots will fire out the sides.

As for the Weasel, I wish to have it?s multi fire configuration the same as the Spider - however, when single fire is switched on, I need to reposition the main guns to fire straight ahead, as the would normally.

As the final part of my dilemma, when ANY ship attaches as a turret to another, I need to disable any multi fire they originally had, and angle their guns to fire straight ahead, as normal. Should they detach, if possible, their modified settings would return.

Will, that?s about it. I thank you all for taking the time to read my request, and hope you help me.

Shanky = my brother, who won't be able to assist you in getting any subspace questions answer.

As for your problem, i'm sorry. But the main bullet for single fire/multifire angle cannot be changed.

Really? Crap... In this zone, I?m trying to replicate airship battles from the game Skies of Arcadia, and side firing cannons was really important. That alone could compromise the zone? Well, what about disabling the single shot when multi fire is activated? Is that possible? Maybe by use of a Bot?

Also, do you think that in the future, such an ability as altering the single shot angle would be feasible on upgrades to the client?

And of course, thanks.

Nope, sorry. I suggest visiting the ssforums and posting a feature request for continuum there.

what about degrees from north for each of the bullets? that would be wacky.

ex:
Code: Show/Hide

[Terrier]
Bullet1Angle=0
Bullet2Angle=90
Bullet3Angle=180
Bullet4Angle=270
/*Where all angles are measured in degrees.  This would make a ship that fires like this:
   |
--O--
   |            */

Multifire would simply make odd bullet numbers acitvated, or something like that. Comments, anyone?

Okay, here's a paint diagram of what I want to do. Ships 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 are shown here, as they are the only ones that require special modification.

Contains ships 1 - 3

Bullet Path1.bmp - 157.67 KB
File downloaded or viewed 30 time(s)

Contains ships 6 and 6

Bullet Path2.bmp - 252.24 KB
File downloaded or viewed 32 time(s)

Comment: I'm lazy, so?

Suggestion for Helicon: Look at the content, not the style.

Suggetion for new features: Wouldn't it be cool to be able to specify exactly where each bullet goes in future versions?

Like lock-ons? Or homing bullets/bombs? That would be neat.

I can imagine it now; someone targets you and launches off a Lv 3 bomb with the homing upgrade. Your only chance for survival is to try and lose it in a nearby asteroid field while at the same time avoiding bullets from perusing ships...

In any case, Mine Go Boom, for posting suggestions on the SS forums, would these be considered Client upgrades, or Server additions?

Everyone of those suggestions require both to be upgraded. ASSS could be updated by anyone (idea of open source), but the client can only be updated by one person, thus the bottleneck. So requires client to be updated first.

I don't mean homing, I mean what angle the bullets leave the ship at, like 22.3 degrees, 48.7 degrees, and 187.2 degrees.
