make sure you let CTM ping the zones... so that it can update its server list _________________ Signatures just seem so quaint. |

Ok also, I can't even connect to any new zones... I just made a new one, only changed the name to something then went on, and it said it was down... |

This is a "bug", just wait a few seconds for them to turn red again. |

yahh but why won't it let me go into my zone, i did it before and it worked, and i did the exact same thing now and it doesn't. Does it have something to do with the new continuum that came out? because i downloded that. |

If your server is on your machine, and it is on the directory, and you downloaded a new zone list, then the IP probably needs changing manually back to 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1, because most ISP's give you an IP which changes everytime you dial-up. Alternatively un your server, then download the zone list again and it should update the IP.
Oops, you said you had cable, I think what I wrote only applies to 56k/dial-up modems. |

No, this same thing happens to me on my server. You just need to go to C:/windows/program files/Continuum, or whever you have it installed to, and open the Zone.dat file in notepad. Your server will most likely be near the top. Leave that open and go to your Start -> Run. Hopefully you are using MS 2000 or MS ME, otherwise I'm not sure how you get your IP. In the Run Command line, type "winipcfg" and press ok. This will bring up a small window, with your IP, and your Gateway IP (which is usually something like 277.277.277.0). You need the other one. For, instance, mine is 192.168.1.###. Take this number and go back to the Zone.dat file. Type it in instead of the IP that will be there already. Also check to see if you Port Number is the same. After you have replaced the IP number, save and close Zone.dat and run your server and continuum. Your zone should* now be green with a ping and player amounts, and you'll be able to login.
* Note: You must not be running your server or have Continuum loaded ti o the zone list screen when you run this, or when you close Continuum the IP will revert back to what it was before you replaced it with the correct one, and you'll have to do it over. Also note that sometimes, even with cable, the IP will change on its own when you run your server. This is caused most likely by a change to the server.ini, billing.ini, or server.cfg files. I've noticed that it may happen from several server *recycles without shutting the server down(I think it was 50 *recycle's before it changed, so don't worry about it). It won't happen everytime you change the settings, but periodically it will. Have no fear, however. All you'll have to do at the most is change the IP number again, but the one you put in the Zone.dat file won't change if you are on cable. So if you write it down, you won't have to run "winipcfg" again. Hope that helps.

if your ip is 0.0.0.0, that means you don't have an ip, and you can't go on the internet. if you have a dial-up modem still in your computer, make sure you choose the right interface in winipcfg. alternatively, you can go to www.whatismyip.com. Or just use 127.0.0.1, as that is the default loopback address. You enter your IP in your zone.dat in the continuum directory in program files. your zone will only be green while it's running. if you have a firewall please let us know. best of luck. |

also, this isn't a "bug," it's done on purpose so as not to make it look like all the servers are down when you start up. if you have high latency (e.g. dialup) then it might take a while to ping all the zones. this way a zone is assumed to be online until the ping times out. i'm not sure where exaclty i was going with this but it's standard to assume that servers are online until they don't respond to a ping. |
