Anyone have any good suggestions for a good Intel Pentium 4 motherboard? I plan to build my custom CPU on it, and possible overclock it.
Thanx |

I must say, if you plan on building your own CPU, fitting it to the P4 socket is probably the wrong way to go about it. |

Can I use your cleanroom and etcher when you're done?
But more serious now, the Pentium 4 is quickly becoming a dated processor, so if you don't actually have a chip already, I wouldn't recommend buying one. If you do, what socket is it?
Edit: Gahh, MGB beat me to the joke. |

Just would like to know good MB''s for it, unless you suggest me to upgrade to core duo? |

P4's are getting outdated as someone said before. The way to go today is the Core 2 Duo. Also, a good thing to look in to for today's computers is certainly having a GPU, maybe even SLI or Crossfire so you can rig two together. |

Yeah, generally computers without GPUs are quite unusable.
But on topic, I have never built a computer with Intel, so I don't really have any advice about P4s specifically. I have heard good things about Gigabyte, though, and if you have the money, I'd definitely recommend Asus. _________________ This help is informational only. I am planning to buy a Asus P5B Motherboard, with Core Duo.
What is the GPU stuff?
And what GhZ processor do you suggest for overcloking? I want it overclocked at least to 3.x+ GHZ so what should be the base Ghz processor (2.5ghz?)? |

Honestly, we're a bad place for stuff like this. There is an amazing overclocking guide at http://www.hardforum.com/ , or more specifically at http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1138241 . At a closer look, this isn't the one I remember, but it's probably more relevant. But unless you like spending more money for less power, I suggest you get an Intel. Since Conroe, they've been stomping every other processor out. Although, personally, I'd wait... Intel is promising big things, and the next sit of big things means price drop all around everything else. But you can still pick up a Conroe for like 180$, if I remember correctly, so I guess it's not a big deal anyway. Besides, if you liked spending more money for less power, you'd probably have a Mac.
I'm sure you can detect a lot of fanboyism in this post. |

Don't overclock it. You obviously don't know a lot about this stuff, and you need to learn more first. |
