 |
|
|
|
I just started my Subspace server today and I'm have a problem connecting to it.
I downloaded the server pack from subspace.net and ran subgame2.exe /nb (the server is intended to run on a LAN so no billing is needed).
The problem arises when I try to connect to it. I can see it in my Subspace client alright but when I connect to it. Subgame2.exe console shows "Client connection request from billing server ignored," and my client does not connect. I can't get into the zone.
Help.... what should I do? |

Just a little prenotice, this forum at times is snailish or whatever, before you post select all that you've written and copy it, then press the submit button only ONCE and wait.
If you time out and the post has not been made simply go back and paste all that you've written and try again.
Do not continue to bash the submit button as it creates multiple threads (and I just had to delete two).
Well, your problem most likely is that at server.ini under [billing] you have set IP=127.0.0.1, if you are running the client from the same computer that run the server you are trying to connect to it should be set to IP=localhost instead (continuum problems).
Also, you might wish to take these steps as precausion to avert future troubles.
First you can throw the /nb away.
Now, at subbill.ini AllowNewUsers should be set to 1.
At server.ini under [permission] PermissionMode should be set to 0 (zero).
Next, at server.ini under [password] you should set a pw for SysopPassword, then when you login onto your zone try to add * and the password you have specified to your login pw, that will log you in as Sysop and should help circumvent most initial problems (it will not fix any problem regular users might experience in entering your zone, but at least it will allow you to begin working on shaping it up).
IE. if your sysoppassword=gimmepowers and your username login password is justme then you should login like this:
Username: whoever
Password: justme*gimmepowers |

No, not actually continuum problems, it's a subgame problem.
But, everything else gravitron said will work quite well. it's not a bad thing to run a biller on a LAN, as it will save your scores (always fun). _________________ Hyperspace Owner

Indeed it originates at the subgame, but unless I'm mistaken (could be, I don't remember exactly right now) it only occurs when attempting to use continuum to login, VIE client works just fine.
Also, the cause of the problem in the subgame, is once again priitk's handywork.
The original VIE software had no such problem. |
