In the future do you think it will be possible for as3 to support other programming languages. Java for instance? |

We had this discussion on a chat ingame once. Lemme pull up some logs of how it went:
C 4:Agurus> We have coders
C 4:Chambahs> like whom
C 4:Agurus> Just not as experinced to do this shit
C 4:Agurus> lol
C 4:Gameplay> you have twcore coders
C 4:Gameplay> lol
C 4:Chambahs> java coders
C 4:Agurus> bd the only one
C 4:Gameplay> couldn't java
C 4:Gameplay> be made to be usable on as3
C 4:Gameplay> like python
C 4:Agurus> Well something will happen once you guys open up a dev as3 server for us
C 4:Gameplay> why not just get a wrapper
C 4:Gameplay> cause then his java coders could code
C 4:Smong> java could work with asss, but it will be a lot of work to add it
C 4:Chambahs> or, all his java coders could just learn python
C 4:Agurus> TWcore would be as3-compt I belive
C 4:Chambahs> python is so easy to learn
C 4:Chambahs> especially for people who know how to code java already
C 4:Gameplay> well which do u think would be more work, coding as3 for halo or adding in java so they can do it themselves lol
C 4:Chambahs> coding as3 for halo
C 4:Chambahs> wait more work
C 4:Chambahs> adding java
Conclusion:
Adding java to asss is possible but highly doubtful since its so much work, just to add java. Java users can learn python or C, Java is a mix of both IMO. Remember, if i can learn python, anyone can. Lol. |

If your Java coders can't learn C in a few minutes, then you shouldn't be running their bots (much less modules). Fire them ASAP. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

I have been coding in C. I added a simple command. "?makeme" it set's your ship to something. I.E: ?makeme 8, makes you ship 8. Very simple. Running linux in vmware. Very slow. Gonna redo everything though. It seems python is corrupted. I will try python and C. I guess we can use which ever is best. I looked and the python src for some modules and I was surprised at how easy it was.
Also, my res is 640 by something and so it's hard to read what I am typing. I guess if a letter is 'l' or 't'
Edit: Fixed python. Python modules are working. I loaded a basic example one. I am gonna now start working on a squad duel module. Lemme know if you guys know of any good modules. |
