How'd your IB tests go? My physics teacher said the HL exam this year was easier than the one I had to take _________________

Dude, they rocked.
HL Physics was awesome.
HL Math was awesome with the exception of about 1 problem on each paper. Matrix multiplication by hand? No. But my math teacher says that other math teachers are upset by at least one problem (#5 on the Sequences and Series/Diffy Q option), so I'm happy.
HL English... was about as good as two essays can be.
SL Chem was easy, as all SL sciences are.
SL History was just as expected, awesome p1, ok p2.
SL Spanish... well... I think I got a 4.
When did you take your exams, if not this May? _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. User assumes all risk of use. Cyan~Fire assumes no responsibility for any loss or delay resulting from such use.

"Standard Level", though it was recently changed from "Subsidiary Level". Somehow the powers that be thought that it was too condescending. |

I'd presume it is comparable to AP or some other college credit-earning program. Back then all I could get credit for was the Historys and Englishes. Nowadays though math/science is my field. Crazy how things change. |

My school only allows 3 APs per year. All I'm taking is AP Biology, Chemistry, and English next year. |

I took Physics in my sophomore year, and two science will be a nice supplement for a med career. |

Mine were last year. My raw score for Phys HL paper 2 was something like 41/95 and I still got a 5 on the exam as a whole, exempting me from a year of much (MUCH) harder college physics What options did you pick on paper 3? I did optics and relativity.
Matrix multiplication by hand is fun, but nowhere near as fun as finding eigenvectors/eigenvalues by hand in 4x4's which I had to do in the fall |

Optics and relativity, yeah baby! Ahh, but seriously, I can't wait till the scores go online. Those 2 years better have paid off. :-S
And IB is like AP, but with two differences: it's more international, and the coursework is much more controlled (instead of just taking a test at the end of the year you take special classes with the curriculum established by IB). Oh yeah, and if you pass all your HLs and get an average of a passing score on SLs, you get a special diploma. |

When I took the AP test for Physics, I thought I was getting out of a class or two in college. I found out afterwards that it would only get you out of the lower level classes, which wouldn't even count towards my degree. Thus, the AP test was completely pointless.
As I took the college classes, taking Physics and other science courses in college are much more different than anything that could be taught in high school. If any of you plan on getting a degree in any science field, I'd highly recommend you take Physics and Chemistry in college, even if you could skip it.
Now, as for English, skip it. Completely pointless. |

the AP tests I took and passed were extremely useful in getting out of a couple of requirements in college. That way I focused on taking classes that sounded interesting. So I had a slightly different college experience. For the record I got a 5 on AP Bio and a 4 in Euro. Though I would have gotten a 5 if I hadn't of misheard the time left on the test (i.e. writing 2 essays in 20 minutes != good writing :P). _________________ Oldbie Server Help |

That's very true, Mine. I took physics in high school and then a cal-based physics back to back and the latter was one of the hardest things I've ever done to pull one of the 3 A's the teacher gave. Next is Electricity and Magnetism but I'm waiting for the grumpy old professor who teaches it at the moment to die.
I quite enjoyed english though, had a really brilliant teacher. I would recommend getting out of the Research/Composition englishes and just take the Lit. ones.
Mm, Linear Algebra in the fall, can't wait for those Eigens, though I'd have preferred the Artificial Intelligence class that didn't make. |

Indeed, I'm not going to try to get out of any of the classes that relate to my degree (CS & math minor). But English? Nah. History? Chemistry? Not if I can help it.
My school forced me to take the AP and IB tests for physics and math, though. |

If your teacher dies while you are in college, you get an A in that class automatically. I don't know why but it's just a fact. A teacher told me that before. A few of them actually. Don't go killin all the teacher though, just feed them big macs everyday and the colesteral will do the rest. |

I went in as a freshman with 38 credits (including calc I, calc II, physics, chem, and a few CS's) and took proficiency exams for a few more classes. So I can possibly provide a helpful opinion on this subject.
Unlike MGB, I really recommend that CS or CE people get out of their first CS course. I was unable to get out of my second, and was utterly bored with it. Your mileage may vary.
Also, get out of your first physics iff it has calc as a corequisite instead of a prereq. Otherwise it's just intense review and not worth a whole semester (might need to reveiw in phys 2, but so will half the class that actually took the first half).

Well, one issue with me is that I have to take a certain amount of classes to stay in my school's honors program. But maybe I'll find some interesting electives or something. |

Is it the National Honor Society? I only have to maintain an average of 90 or higher to remain in the Society. |

Just get some of your humanities requirements out of the way. |
