I've been trying out ASSS, got the files to work, but is there a way to allow players with earlier versions of continuum to enter without having to download prerelease1 of 0.39? |

It wasn't a secure solution, chamb, and if you don't care about security, just run enc_null. |

K thanks, I tried it but it was complete failure and didn't work. Not a big deal though.
However, I also get this error that kills the zone and restarts it 2 minutes later :
abnormal (something)
asss out of memory |

not only does it force a shutdown, when it does work, it specs me all the time with this message
"You have been specced for excessive ping (668 > 600)"
is there a way to change this? with subgame I never had these problems :/ |

You'll have to be way more specific, such as posting the exact error messages. |

.. I can't get it through the log, because it doesn't show up since it appears between the disconnection and "opening log file", and ms-dos has no scroll bar :/
It just says the following lines after it disconnects me :
Apr 15 02:41:25 I <arenaman> {0} [Name] leaving arena
Apr 15 02:41:26 I <net> [Name] [pid=0] disconnected
Then it says these two lines before restarting normally:
abnormal program termination
asss out of memory
Also, is it normal for ASSS to have quadruple the lag of subgame2? |

ASSS shouldn't be laggier than subgame2.
In modules.conf you can comment out the lagaction module (only worth doing this if it is a private test zone).
The out of memory message should be preceeded by another error message saying what went wrong (malloc, realloc or strdup), but seeing as it doesn't it could just be chance that asss.bat thinks asss quit with a memory problem.
What version of windows are you running, how much free disk space have you got and how much ram have you got? _________________ ss news |

I would assume your lag problem is related to asss dying. How old is the computer you're running on? |

Ok, I'll admit my computer's old, maybe 1998 or 1999, it still runs off Windows 98.
I have seperate drives, but the main one has about 15 gigs left. I can't tell you how much ram there is, since I don't know how to check that :/
it also has this line "D <deadlock> deadlock detected, aborting" right before the "asss out of memory" part.
