When you use the afterburners (holding SHIFT while moving forward or backwards), it will use "AfterburnerEnergy" amount of your recharge as long as you hold it down (so if your AfterburnerEnergy > your current Recharge, you will lose energy). While your using the afterburners, your ship temporarily takes up your MaximumSpeed and MaximumThrust instead of what it currently is. So if your ?status shows you as having 100% of either of them, Afterburners will do nothing (sorry Pro leaguers, they do nothing).
Some zones have their initial settings for them always constant (ie: no greening for speed or thrusters), and use the max set to some weird value, usually larger. That is how Trench can have their warbirds have huge speeds. Some zones can set it so that the speed and thrust is 1 (as close to 0 as you can get without blowing up VIE client), so using the afterburners will stop your ship from moving, like a brake. |

So in TW the max speed is more than intial speed but ?status still says 100% speed :? (or is there some magic number that Priit put in?)

The max speed/thrust is less than initial speed/thrust? |

If you set AfterburnerEnergy to a negative value, then when you use afterburners, would you gain energy faster than your current recharge?
TIA

Correct. Don't know how continuum supports this, but the vie client will report to the zone that your cheating (too high max energy) if you use it for longer than 5 seconds when your full energy.
Anyways, i believe the ?status also takes into effect your upgrade levels. Since your initial speed in trench is as high as you can go normally (upgrade levels set to 0), it shows 100%, since you technically can't get higher. |

cool, so you could be able to slow down and gain energy because of it. it's like regaining health or something. |

In Pod Racing one of the racers can recharge faster and go faster while holding shift.
Quote: | 3. Fett Type (spider): Formerly a stock class pod,
they have since been upgraded with faster engines to
compete in unlimited class racing. The Fett Type has the
special ability to regenerate damage quickly.
