Yesterday I changed arenas in HZ, and when I entered the new arena the chat was like this

(notice the first team message doesn't have name)
So yeah, nothing big.. just letting you know if someone cares |

Did your FPS slow down and made some text all choppy? Happens to me - just restart Continuum or update your graphics driver. |

Hmmm that thing is back? Happened in public chat in hyperspace months ago but I thought it had been fixed _________________

Looks to me as if someone sent a text message while ASSS was waiting at some stage, where the chat sending loop found you in that arena, but didn't send you a player list yet.
Old no-player list bugs were more fun (subgame liked to do this every so often with 256+ players in a zone), as it would align fully left, so you'd see yellow text like it was done via *arena. I'm not at a computer with access to the latest ASSS source, so I can't go browsing to see what the specific problem is. Someone just needs to look at how the send message loops for everyone in the arena/team, and check the steps of how a user logs into an arena until they get the player lists. |

I thought I remember chat messages from unknown players including the "> " part.
Anyway, I looked at the code, and I think I see a race condition where this might happen. You should file a bug, so at least I don't forget about it, although I don't promise to fix it soon, since it seems pretty rare and relatively harmless. |
