Priitk enabled the user of ?lostpassword now for names. So if you actually filled in the form for your name with a real email address, and you lost the password to it a long time ago, do ?lostpassword NAME, and you'll get a temporary password emailed to you for that name. If you didn't set your correct email in the form, the ?setemail command will be setup soon so you can change it.
How this works: Say you have the name Bob which you filled in the form with the address bob@aol.com. Your computer crashes or your profile.dat gets deleted somehow. You have no idea what the password was for Bob since it was random letters/numbers/symbols. Think your only hope is to bug Priitk/Ghost Ship/Platinum-Halo/myself? Nope, now you can use ?lostpassword. You create a name temp name, like Bob28373, log into a zone, and type ?lostpassword Bob. The billing server will now send an email to bob's address. You log into your bob@aol.com email account, and you should get an email soon with the following info:

The temporary password for your username is posdvqsxcbspqln. Please log in using this password and reset your permanent password using the
?password newpassword command. This temporary password will remain active for 24 hours.

You log into a zone now with the name Bob and the password of posdvqsxcbspqln. Once in the game, you do a ?password=weD3d1#a to set your new password, and you now have your Bob name back.
Note that the email does not say which name this password is for. This is so someone cannot read your email and see which name this new temp password is for. Since you should have done the ?lostpassword, you should know which name it is for.
People who abuse this command WILL be banned! PriitK will be watching closely for a while to make sure people don't do 500 ?lostpassword requests a day. |
