Server Help

3 - User with invalid TimeZoneBias locked out: AnonymousPerson
3 - Player leaving(No Score): ^Banned

Does anyone know why this 1 player is getting this? He has never entered the network before and I don't recognise this error.

Some ban-freeing program before used to randomize even the timezone information. Since timezones are all set on a minimum of 30 minute intervals, a check to catch these cheaters is to make sure the timezone information is divisible by 30. If not, it is invalid.

What do you mean Maverick?

He is running a bot on his computer yes, but it wasn't on my server and he was trying to connect as a player.

BTW Smong, what does his location matter to why the server is labeling him as banned?

Yes. Obviously his location will affect his time zone.

I'm the guy who can't get onto Donk's server because I'm on a 1/2 hour time zone. This isn't the only server we have been having trouble getting on to.

How can we fix this problem? Donk has been kind enough to host Siege of Avalon for me, but I can't get onto the server to update, play or anything!

I am not a Cheater, I am a serious guy trying to make a zone that appeals to the masses (very hard job LOL icon_eek.gif ). And, now I have yet another road block to over come. Help with this would be awesome!

You could double click on the clock in the systray and change your timezone. Or a billing op could try banfreeing you.

I can't banfree his name if it isn't registerred with the server.

Well I tried to get on CBCC Siege of Avalon, and all went well, but I couldn't get into the server to see if the settings work, but I got the "Invaled Password" "Password may be used by another player, or you may have typed it in wrong" ERROR. However, I did it 5 or 6 times and each time I made sure I typed in the right password.

When You put my name on the server Donkano did you type it as "I{omodoI}ragon" and did you put a password with it. If so, I may need the password you put in to get on the zone.

We're getting there....

Alright here's the verdict....

I couldn't get into the zone under Newfoundland TimeZone which is :
GMT -03:30. And whatever was up with my normal alias as in previous post.

Anyway, so I tried changing my name to Komodo I}ragon, and changing my time zone to Central NorthAmerican time, and I got on, however, because of high latency I was put in spec.

So using deductive reasoning here is my humble conclusion:

It seems that some servers only look for TimeZones that are divisible be 60, as 99 percent of the world's TimeZones are buy 1 hour changes. So because I am in a 30 minute time zone I am penalized because the computer thinks I am an "ALIEN" from another planetary timezone!

So for the solution: We need to find a way to not only FreeBan, but change the servers code to include 30 minute Timezones.

We also can't get onto CTF Flash zone either for this very same reason. I don't think this is a difficult problem, but just some internal server setting needs to be changed.

Anyhow, this is just my humble observation. Take it or leave it.

I PMed you your name and password on these forums Komodo. Also, I saw you log in this morning it appeared that you got in fine on your time switch, but then you left and came back (when I came in) it said:

After I saw that I put a level 2 (SysOp level) banfree on that name and used the ?write command.
