I just emailed ICANN and pitched for ".dev" domains.
Seeing as how almost all good .com and .net are taken, and many of us are engaged in development.
It'll be far more suitable for dev teams to have .dev instead of .com (unless they're selling out ).
Especially sites like sourceforge which should really be a .dev and not .com, since .com means commerical and free open source is far from being that.

I think it's about time .com stop being the rabbid equivalent of a filename extension (might as well call them .exe at that) and start being used for what it is to be used - big opressionist capitalist pigs (OCP) companies chasing money (like microsoft and sony).

The rest of us, if we're true to the code, should be .dev we seek to create, expand and evolve, not to make a yacht and accounts in swiss banks.

I'm still new to this domain deal, but how would you create a new domain?

sourceforge.com does sell a commercial enterprise version of the software that is running on sourceforge.net.
