today I reinstalled windows but it don't read any usb device, and it says something about that it can't find NTKERN.vxd. I would be happy for help.

Google's your best friend.

First link brought about the following:

Quote:

Ntkern.vxd error

USB has stopped working and I get error messages

I get the message “The NTKERN.VXD Device Loader for this device could not load the device driver(Code 2). Click to update the driver.” I’m unable to get the Windows CD to copy this file across. I was attempting to add a Belkin four-port USB board (model number F5U006-UNV) – the Belkin site claims that no drivers are required. Unfortunately, the end result of the above is that my PC locks up, forcing me to switch off. I’ve tried disabling Norton in MSCONFIG, but the problems persist. Please can you help?

It sounds like the incorrect version of the USB controller’s drivers have somehow been installed. To fix the problem you’ll need your Windows CD to hand, but first, locate the following files in the Windows\System32\Drivers folder: Uhcd.sys, Usbhub.sys, Usbd.sys. Rename all three (we suggest replacing the .sys extension with .old), then extract fresh ones from your Windows CD.

To do this, run System File Checker by clicking Start, Run, typing sfc and pressing [Return]. Select Extract one file from the installation disk, type uhcd.sys into the ‘Specify the system file you would like to restore’ box and click Start. Make sure that the ‘Restore from:’ box points towards the Win98 directory on your CD-ROM, and that the ‘Save file in:’ box points towards C:\Windows\ system32\drivers. Click OK, and when Windows finishes restoring the file click OK. Now repeat the process for Usbhub.sys and the Usbd.sys. Finally, click Close and restart when prompted.

Anyway, provide more information about your system, are you running win98?
