Ok, this program really works, and no, it is not malicous.
http://www.download.com/SG-TCP-Optimizer/3...tml?tag=lst-0-1
Currently, 2 people i've asked to do this have aready boosted there internet, and so have I.
My friend (now is no longer playing/keeping in contact) did this a while back (when I told him it might help him). He is on 56k. He was only dling at like 5k, then started dling at 10k shortly after using it.
Today, Bdwinsalt told me that his internet was "ok" (he's on cable). I told him about this program, instantly after using it, his ping went from 100ms, to 60ms, and from .7c2s, to .1c2s.
I am on very fast internet, so i dont really notice that much of a difference, although i know that it DOES help.
This program does not increase your bandwidth, but it finds better ways to use it.
Just thought i'd share it with ya _________________ I know that I myself cannot do anything, that I will fall, and that I am a sinful man, but I know that I can do ANYTHING through God Almighty, whom strengthens me. |

That program - and many other similar programs - just edits/adds values to registry files on your computer. Didn't increase my download/upload speed at all. However, Mozilla is running a bit faster, but I don't really care about browser speed. |

Like i said, it doesnt increase your bw, nor does it increase your upload. It finds better ways to use it. Purge, your internet is pretty fast, so you wont exactly notice that much of a difference. |

AFAIK, what those programs which increase internet browsing speed do is to open more than the maximum allowed convention of 2 download streams per domain (basically it's like using flashget/getright/etc.) and as well are caching websites so they can access the information at hand and serve you the website faster. |

I always thought when they were done downloading the current site, they started download the links on the site one by one, then if you click on a link it's already downloaded and looks like it downloaded instantly. Maybe I'm thinking of something else though. _________________ SubSpace Discretion: A Third Generation SubSpace Client |

similar. Normally you cache only what you've already downloaded. This would cache what you might download in the future. |

i figure most of these programs are just major cache hives. firefox does practically the same thing by locating specially marked URL links that will be pre-fetched for 'faster' loading. I guess it's the same thing as Google Web accelerator does. _________________ Performance is often the art of cheating carefully. - James Gosling |

I don't use any programs for boosting my internet. I open up my registry and edit it from there.
I've gotten my internet and download connecting to go from 350 kb/s to 500 kb/s, and it would peak at 750 kb/s every now and then. _________________ SSE Network Administrator |

All these "accelerators" are unethical and should be banned. |

Contempt, thats preciously what this program does (i believe) but it does it without error (normally, although there are the occasional, rare case), and is a ton faster then editing it yourself.
This does NOT install anything, nor does it save webpages/etc to load it faster. (Continuum & games would not be affected if it did).
Im just trying to help ya'll |

I would much rather have a program that installs itself than just modifies my registry then goes away. What a POS. _________________ This help is informational only. Mav and 1st, I did not ask for your ruthless, pointless, ignorant attitude.
Stfu and dont post. You scream and yell and say "Every post is a confess pity party" yet you make it that. I didnt start flaming, so why must you? Lose the attitude, or dont post, its that simple. |
