I just finished letting the spyware part of firefox update itself to 1.0.1.
It downloaded some install program and put it on my desktop. WTF is up with that?
It then procedes to put 3 copies of a shortcut to firefox on my desktop. Those are new copies, my old shortcut is still there. That makes for a total of four shortcuts to firefox (if you can't count) and one install program.
This just proves how awful firefox is. I recommend that everyone switch to IE to avoid critical bugs such as this one. IE has proven itself over its life to be a highly stable, reliable and totally bug free system.

Firefox is starting to piss me off. Updating to 1.0.1 cost me about 4 hours trying to install all my extensions again. None of them auto-updated, and some didn't exist for 1.0.1. Also my theme no longer exists, so I had to choose another. The new find toolbar on the bottom of the window sucks. Look at the Firefox bug forums. It seems there's no end in sight for problems.

IE is the best browser ever. You never have to deal with setup problems because it installs itself! I mean, come on Firefox, get with the program! _________________ This help is informational only. he was being sarcastic...comparing trivial-ass little bugs that Firefox has to huge, gaping ugly fucked up idiotic bugs Internet Explorer has
...the Firefox install stuff has always sucked...bah, I think they have too much corporate backing, but there's no better alternative atm |

You don't get around much, then, Assassin - not even Firefox has good popup blocking.

haha you scared me for a second there doc with the Long Live M$ stuff, totally out of character. I didn't get any additional icons when I installed because I unchecked the "add icon" boxes. I did see the installer on my desktop, though. _________________

I haven't seen a single ad/popup since I use The Proxomitron.
It's an ugly program, but it works pretty good, and because it's running on another "slave" machine I don't really see it's there. |

some day someone will code up something for some browser that just literally does not allow popups if you don't want them, but Firefox is doing okay at the moment |

With a little bit of customization, I have no problem with popups in the Mozilla Suite. |

There are some times when a popup isn't considered a popup.
Isn't this whole 1.0.1 release just to address the problem with characters in other languages being represented as english-like characters in firefox? I forgot what the term was called exactly but read about it somewhere. |

IE SUCKS
get over it, its true. Even microsoft stopped developing on it and will only release bug fixes. (Imagine the current IE still has hundreds bugs and security holes in it)
Firefox update consist of downloading the full new setup file then installing it and copying it over the old one. Worked fine with me, plus extensions. _________________

Actually, they said that they're working on MSIE 7.0; but theres one part I couldn't remember, if it was only for Longhorn, or because of the issues at hand of Longhorn being delayed it'll be for XP. |
