K - seemed to be a kind of "test" in Extreme-Games - it's public again. (maybe they changed LVL / settings, etc.)
_
But would be a nice feature even if it's back public now. |

That's what chat channels are for.
If all else fails, use ?find.

In some cases ?userlist could result in 500+ names. Also, there are reasons for players to NOT know who the mods/smods/sysops are in some cases. _________________ 4,691 irradiated haggis! |

The original suggestion is a bad idea, but I've been thinking about a slightly simpler idea: Often you want to know how many people are in some other zone without quitting the game. I think I could set it up so you could do :remoteplayer:?count, and it would reply with the number of people in the zone that player is in. You could also do :remoteplayer:?find, which would tell you what zone/arena they were in (which is slightly more information than just ?find remoteplayer). Comments? |

Wouldn't those be biller additions?
If so, a "?count Zone Name" would be more direct.
And perhaps the billing protocol could be extended to include arenas, if you feel that arena name in ?find is something worthwhile. |

Ideally, ?count would be a biller command. But I can't modify the SSC biller. I can, however, add it to asss so it'll work in at least a small number of places immediately.
Arena names in ?find aren't really that useful. It was just another easy thing I thought of to do once I set up the infrastructure for ?count. |

Nah, a suggestion a long, long time ago was better. Back in Continuum somewhere in version 12 or so, people wanted ?zone back. Someone made the suggestion to add it back, but instead of quiting the zone, you can see the listing of zones/pings/counts and make your selection to change zones that way if you wished.
Of course, this was thrown into the "nice suggestions" list, and never done. |

Grel, you forget 1 thing: Not everyone uses SSC. The various billers under development, or in current production, can fix that problem with little hassle. In fact, SSI uses a ?bzones to list all active zones and their player counts, with some filtered scoreids.
But still, a server-side of it can be just as effective.
And ?zone: amazing. _________________ There are no stupid question, but there are many inquisitive idiots.
