 |

I've looked all through these forums on the faq, tried the inicheck utility, confirmed my zone.dat, changed ports a bunch of times, I'm not behind any type of firewall (hardware or software) and I still can't get my server to go green on the zone list. I've tried it on two different computers with two seperate internet connections and tried downloading server.zip from a couple different sources. There are no error messages in the log files. What am I missing?
Here's a screenshot of what I see

Im not an expert but I cant see anything abviously wrong with your files, not sure what Misc.ServerIp should be set to but I think it should be either localhost or nothing unless you are running it on a computer with either a static IP or one which rarely changes. If you are running it on a computer with 56k connection you may not be able to serve (which I think is why I cant), you cant play on the same computer that you are serving on, if you are serving on a computer which is behind a router you must forward the ports (look for posts in here on that router subject because apparently its a doozie) and if serving on computer with WinXP you must either configure the default firewall or dissable it, but then you probably already know all this.
Not sure about this but I think that if you are serving on a computer behind a proxy server or if the ISP uses a passive proxy server (which you would not know about unless you asked) you may not be able to serve. |

Try adding a custom zone from the continuum zone menu.
Name: Testing server
IP: 127.0.0.1
Port: Whatever your port is (8200 in the screen shot) _________________ Hyperspace Owner

That worked perfectly Dr Brain. Thanks.
It still doesn't explain why I can connect normally but it will serve my purpose to test lvz's.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays! |

| You have a firewall somewhere from the internet to you. If you don't have one, then your ISP does. |

Actually you are the only one that needs to connect like that (if you forward your ports). People outside your LAN can connect the normal way. _________________ This help is informational only. It will work. I ran a server behind my router for about a month.
We all did just explain how to make it work, so please don't argue unless you know what you're talking about. |
