| I am trying to add a feature to my bot which will send ?messages to everyone on a team roster, but when I reach a certain point I get "You have sent too many messages". Does anyone know a way around this or know what kind of limit there is (either time limit or message limit)? I already have the bot send 10 messages every minute just to get around the command flooding problem, but now I get this. Thanks in advance for the help. |

That feature exists to prevent exactly what youre doing. Use the bot to message people in PMs when they come online. _________________ There are no stupid question, but there are many inquisitive idiots.

um the whole reason I'm adding this to the bot is because our league website doesn't have this ability even though it should. Since I'm not in charge of that I decided to do it myself on the bot.

DUH. Thats why I need to know the time limit so once some time passes I can send more messages. I'm not trying to do anything malicious here. I'm not trying to figure out how to disable the feature, just how long I need to wait before I can send more ?messages. So how about it? |

SSC billing's ?message feature keeps a tally of everyones incoming and outgoing messages. You can't have more than X incoming messages per person, so Bob cannot have like 500 messages sent to him. Also, you cannot have more than Y outgoing messages. So, no matter how long, Bob cannot have 500 messages to 500 people.
I'd recommend getting a mailing list. Yahoo and such offer these for free. |

You could make a ?chat, then have the bot send a message every x minutes.
I've had this idea for a long time, it could grab news from a community website and send it down a ?chat, save you ever having to alt-tab. |

Yeah ?messages are definitely not the way to go on this. I'd go with MGB's suggestion myself. _________________ This help is informational only. mailing list is the obvious choice but I still would like to have some in game feature for getting in contact with team members.
looks like I'll have to write something myself using ?find's and remote PM's |

Yes we do
And you people are talking about two diferent limits here. There is flood protection and there is message limits. Such as: The limit on messages allowed to be stored is not the limit smong is refering to. One prevents you from destroying the message database and messaging thousands of people, the other prevents you from running too many commands, particualrly because some take a significant larger ammount of processing power, and thousands of these commands can create a dos condition. |
