If I leave a client idling on my asss test server connected to ssc billing, I sometime get a few remote private messasge from people I don't know. I'm using a recently created alias that no one knows, so what's going on?? The first few I discounted, but after about 4 I'm becoming suspicious...

Here's one example:

Those are actually remote squad messages. The text within the initial parens is the name of the squad. In this case, it's the null string. That is, someone's sending remote squad messages to the squad with no name, which asss forwards to all players that have no squad.

I have no idea what's doing the sending, and why. I suppose I should just give in and special-case the null squad in asss, but I really think whatever's sending that crap should stop sending it.

I also got that message, I think this should be fixed ASAP before someone exploits this bug for advertising.
Interestingly enough there seems to be squad named 'Predator <ER>' belonging to someone else.

Wouldn't Predator <ER> be the person who's sending the message? As in a mesage from TW's Predator <ER>? It sounds like he's giving a list of mod macros or something.

Yes it is a name, but I did ?squadowner Predator <ER> too, it is owned by 'Help', that is why I said it was interesting. Infact on closer inspection I think I may have got a slightly different message.
