That's pretty slow. Where are you getting that number from? I got 40K with my old dialup modem. _________________ This help is informational only. Think of if this way: This game was designed for 56k users (well, actually, less than that). So their max download is 5k per second. That is not always reached, but its a good guess on what a 'peak' time would show for your server. So your upload needs to be atleast 5k per second per player before you notice some really crappy lag in game play.
On average, players use maybe 1k up/down bandwidth a second, but if there are 10 people in one spot, that number increased greatly, as you have to forward everyone's positions nine times each. |

i played this game very well with a 28k modem...
which has a dl limit of about 3?
and this is not like playing on a public zone, cuz this zone will only accept ppl with a max of 50ms...
is there a chance for hosting 10 ppl? |

If you're just gonna do normal stuff, then you're probably alright with 10 people. If you want to do LVZs however, you're gonna need a faster connection. |

Connections are not all based on lag alone. Ping speed and packetloss can make a different, but the largest problem is bandwidth. How much data can you jam down your connection per a time interval. It may get to its target reliably and fast, but you can only send so much data at a time. So, bandwidth makes a difference, because once you hit your bandwidth limit, EVERYONE will lag badly, because the server cannot forward the packets fast enough, and you start to lose some, or things are just delayed because the pipe is backed up and has no room for data to be sent. |
