I used to be running both billing and subgame on one computer, but recently I switched to running billing on one and subgame on the other, because subgame would lag while I was trying to recompile my bot icon_sad.gif . When I try to connect to the server though, the server spits out

Tue Aug 12 10:09:29: Attempting to establish link to billing server...
Tue Aug 12 10:09:30: Billing server connected.
when I connect:
Tue Aug 12 10:11:36: Disconnect request from billing server ignored.
Tue Aug 12 10:11:46: Client connection request from billing server ignored.
Tue Aug 12 10:11:57: Client connection request from billing server ignored.

And then Continuum says that it failed to connect to the server. What exactly is going on here and how do I fix it?

I'm running SSBilling2.exe (Catid's latest billing server I think) and subgame2.exe on seperate computers, billing is running on a P4 2400 MHz w/ 512 MB RAM and subgame is running on a 120 MHz icon_confused.gif

I've made sure that all the firewalls are down and I'm pretty sure that's not the problem; it happens when I connect from local and WAN sides.

It just makes me soo mad that it works on one computer but when you split it up it stops >: new_evil.gif icon_sad.gif

I forgot to mention that I've fixed this once before, but it was years ago and I don't remember how :-/

Make sure in the server.ini, that the [Misc] Port is different than the [Billing] Port, by atleast like 100. So say the Misc:Port is 1000, should have the billing like 1100.

On your router, forward the [Misc]Port and the number one higher than that to your slow computer, where the server is. Do not forward the billing port, as the computers are on a LAN together, and do not need to talk to each other via the internet.

But all that above is standard stuff, and you should have done that by now. For you to connect from the Billing server, it is a pain. I believe you edit the favorite.lst file in your server folder to look something like this:
Code: Show/Hide
My zone,127.0.0.1,900
#My test zone
My zone,192.168.1.100,900
#My test zone

Change the 192.168.1.100 part to your LAN ip that you run the computer on. That might fix it.

If you have two machines running, why don't you run both the billing and subgame on the one machine? I know its slow, but it should work.

Hmmm, I already had the ports forwarded but when I tried to connect using either LAN or WAN I'd get the errors, after adding the entries in the FAVORITES.LST file it seemed to work for WAN, which is fine, but I'm wondering why it still won't let me in through the LAN?

thanks

Add both LAN IP's in then, the one the server is on, and the one you work from.

i get this error when i try to connect the client through 127.0.0.1:[port]

i moved my server stuff to a windows 2000 advanced server and you get 2 ips for the one comp. standard is 10.50.0.4 and the extra(internal) is 10.50.0.16 or 10.50.0.20. Well i guess in a way it is better to use ur network IPs rather than the loopback IP (127.0.0.1)

But is 127.0.0.1 faster than a network ip?

In MERVBot.INI you probably have it set to connect to 127.0.0.1, try changing this to your LAN IP or the IP that continuum connects to: right-click on your zone and write down the IP and match it in MERVBot.INI.

I've switched to ASSS on my Linux computer now and I'm not having any more problems.

i ment to say this but i thought you would pick it up. 127.0.0.1 was actually used by hackers to break in to the servrs a while back thats why you get "Client connection request from billing server ignored." and Priit has patched that issue.
