I still think there's memory in a pent. and a Xeon? Isn't that the diffence between a celr. and a pent.? Anyways I said I a wirless modem but I ment router, but I thinks it's funny too (you can learn alot in a year). |

My knowledge isn't really up-to-date when it comes to CPUs, what we were taught at school was from a book from 1997.
The differences between "memory" or the cache? aren't the differences between Celerons and Pentiums. I think the differences between those would be the clock speed and bus speeds.
The major differences between a Pentium (4) and a Xeon is that (many) Xeons can be setup to work parallel, which makes them great for servers and workstations.
Thinking you have some high-speed hosting when you're hosting off a home broadband connection of course would be wrong, but if you do it anyway, please do not use a wireless connection, that's the most stupid thing you can do in that situation.
It's not even a year, and if you call this "alot" I guess I can understand why you act like a... hah k fine nvm. |

The primary difference between celerons and pentiums is that the celerons lack hardware floating point processors and have to do all the floating point calculations in software. This makes them cheaper for things that don't use floats, like wordprocessing and webbrowsing. It makes them slower for games though.
The L1 and L2 caches are on board the CPU dies, I belive, but don't confuse these with memory. That's like confusing hard drive space and physical RAM size. _________________ Hyperspace Owner

Actually, I'm pretty sure Celerons do have less cache than Pentiums. And clock speeds definitely aren't a difference, you can get a 2.6gHz Celeron or a 2.6gHz Pentium. It is true, however, that Intel has been pushing the P4 clock speeds just for show, but anything higher than around 3gHz doesn't matter for everyday purposes. (And you can easily overclock a celeron to match a P4.) _________________ This help is informational only. No representation is made or warranty given as to its content. User assumes all risk of use. They might have cache size differences, but that's not the difference. A Celeron with a big cache is still a Celeron. A Celeron with a floating point coprocessor is *not* a Celeron. |

Sure Brain and Cyan.
My friends always complain my computers are badly picked for gaming (I just like terms like "Dual Core" and having 2 CPUs in one box).
It's not what I want to use them for, but when all the new hardware comes out (I guess that'd be end May this year) I'll ask you to recommend me a CPU/some memory. |

So lets see if I have the whole CPU thing striaght now.
A Pent. and Celr. have mostly the same clock speeds, but pent. has a cach making the file accessing alot easier to reach then going to the RAM or even the hard drive for them. Xeon also has a cach, but I still don't know what the differnce is between that and pent. and I don't know what a dual core is. I also know Centinos are used for notebooks and laptops but I don't know why they're so spiecal for them. Also AMD and Intel are the same quality, but AMD is just cheaper because they don't advertise unlike Intel.
Know is every thing correct, and what are the things that I listed I don't know? |

google is your friend.
EE puts it best.
Xeon is made so intel can charge businesses that may need a multiprocessor motherboard more money as they manufacture regular pentium in such a way which prevents it from being used on multi-CPU boards (you can have two regular pents, cooperating, but that's all, above that you need xeon, which is expensive as you'll expect a manufacture line intended for large companies that need massive solutions...crooked operation if you ask me). |

Thanks for the lesson (I Understund most of it, I wish you post a "For dummies" version), but what's with the Centinos?

No, google is the most destructive force on the planet with a wider intelligence network than all of US's agencies put together.
But anyhow, 3 little key words found all the answers you need.
So, please, learn to use it.

WTF dose scripting have to do with google...
I know how to use it and I know it's the largest search engine in the world, but that's why I said it's a comunisim (that's not saying I don't know how to use it) it could controlls on where we go, and iy is run by using milatary forces to force there workers to keep working (My friends uncle works there now) . Besides it's owned by AOL, think about what's wrong with that. Now shut up you ugly harry twat. |

Stupid little brats like you don't even know what communism is.
You think it means soviet russia, which's about the complete extent of your "knowledge" that is if you even dare to name it such, and that it's a cool thing to spit around about things of no relevance from time to time.
And I were you I would keep my mouth quiet before you get banned from life. |
