heres a demonstration of how bmp lvz's could be made to be smaller then png lvz's. These bmps were compressed by invader zim. I did import lvz and imported these images into your program and then saved. I did use your program to make the ini but I had redone the images to bmps for better compression. There is a .5mb difference between these files.

interesting... but for rendered art you really should use jpgs... here's the jpg lvzs (notice a 600k file size as opposed to 2,500k).

you should add features to save in this format to your lvz editor. cause when I attempt to build a level with a jpg it doesn't compress at all.

it doesn't need to. the JPG format is what does the compression (the image sizes are 20% of those for PNG or compressed BMP)

just tested the lvz it messed up on the transparency around the edges. I also lost some quality in 8 bit mode that it had before in 8 bit mode using the other lvz but its worth it since it compressed that much. I just suggest using 8bit mode for it since it shows black around the images in any other mode. For those who don't know were talking about "?go gta2" inside my zone SSCI Battle Field 2

oh PICK ME!!! omfgroflcakes MMEEMEEMEMEME!!!oneoneoneoene111 (sigh) everyone knows PNG's are wayyy less then all the other formats, i took a screenshot which was 1.3mb, then i opened it in paint shop pro, converted it to png, and it was 393kb, also, thats just the regular compression, nevermind using PNG Crush, that would just knock it down to about 350, then clean up the rest with that other program..PNG Out (i think thats what its called) which compresses stuff that crush leaves, then the compression that the lvz itself does...pfft, i dont see why people DONT use png

jpg beats png for rendered art and pictures

lvz compression uses zlib, which is the same compression PNG uses so you won't get any better by lvzing the file up (it's like zipping a zip file)

Have you ever been to the zone bak made? It cannot be done on subgame. There is almost infinite possibility with asss, and subgame, while flexible pales in comparison

One of my first modules was autobrick, which I used to protect spawn areas from enemy fire. With subgame you can't control the direction a brick is placed so a bot would only work if you tailored the map too (since bricks align to the nearest tile, else random).

You also have more control over balls/flags/points. Golf and pacman are two examples that can be done nicely with asss.

No d1 I haven't been invited to his zone. I don't just go to other zones unless I know the developers or owner.

I don't have source to alot of my plugins to convert them to as3. Not worth losing these plugins to gain the features in as3. Nice attempt at a stab though. Didn't know you had beef with me. Doesn't matter though take your next shot, or play it smart and wait for a better oportunity to degrade me.

WTF.

Did you even listen to me? MERV works on asss. That means you can connect MERVBot to an asss zone just like a subgame one.

Also, the fact that I point out your hypocrisy doesn't mean I have a personal problem with you. I would advise not throwing accusations of personal grudges or maliciousness around, because that's not going to build anything near a good reputation.

Merv works on as3. My plugins wouldn't and I do not have the source to them to make them as3 compatable.

The thing with bmp/pngs when building a lvz is a compressing a group of compressed file is bad, not because it adds overhead to the file but because the compression algorithm that may have found more matches spanning all the uncompressed files can only look on a per file base for matches. bmps have lots in common with each other. A good compressor can really shrink down a group into one sleak file as long as it has all the uncompressed files to start with. … that make sense to anyone?

also using pngs in lvz’s takes longer for contim to decompress to raw bmp. for best filesize save the bmps as run length encode and then build level them in one group.

Also, the thing about rendered art/jpg… nooooo way. you can’t compare a lossy algorithm to this. lossless/compressed is the only way to go when transparency is needed and you can’t use alpha channel maps.

Does asss not support command aliasing? I thought it did, or if it doesn't, that would be a nice feature.

I use more then 30 dll's. There would definitly be some issues with converting to as3. This is years of programing done by many different people. Until as3 fully supports every subgame feature there would be this problem getting zones to convert to as3.

Also, if you have custom zone plugins and not the source, you have some bigger issues you might want to look into.
