Dear Murphy & Crew,
Greetings.
I have a small (and rather ancient, version 1.16.0) media-wiki that I run as a community service for another game.
While the bots themselves haven't actually done damage save registering stupid usernames (I thought the one dubbed "CaptchaByPassBitchesNovak" was quite amusing) and creating stupid pages that no one will check with crappy sex website links and gibberish SPAM, they are a nuisance to me and I'd rather keep the wiki clean of garbage.
It appears they're constantly sieging the doors and whenever I open the flood gates they start to pour in constantly.
I would like to stop them at the registration step, although I have no qualms about rendering entire IP ranges blocked from registering if it'd work (although I haven't the slightest clue as to how).
You've been most effective, in the past, at applying techniques to this forum that did exactly that.
I was wondering if you'd be willing to land a hand.

Try adding a reCaptcha and a question specific to the knowledge contained in your wiki?
Upgrading your wiki to a newer version may add these features automatically (?). _________________
