I know this isnt SS related, and can be moved to trash talk if needed, but its really not trash talk :(

The problem is, I am having a hard time going on certain websites. On FF I can go on certain websites, and on IE I can go on others. Heres an example of my problem:

If I use firefox, I can access: google's home page, ask.com, mgbf, and alot of others.

If I use IE, I can access: yahoo.com's home page, ssforum.net, and alot of others.

I cant access yahoo.com and sfn on firefox at all. And as far as yahoo goes, I cant access my mail through IE, on google on FF, i cant search for anything.

These are just a couple of examples.

At first, I thought it was a DNS issue. But after taking these steps, I realized I was wrong:

I contacted my ISP and they said that everything looks fine and they dont see any problems.

Uninstalled/Reinstalled my modem.

Uninstalled/Reinstalled/Changed versions of firefox.

Checked through all security and option settings.

Disabled my firewall.

Entered OpenDNS and my ISP's DNS servers manually in network connections.

My ISP reset my modem.

I did an ipconfig /release and /renew, as well as a /flushdns

The strange thing is, this just happened all of the sudden, everything has been fine for a long time now. There were no settings changed, and nothing was touched. I just turned on my computer one day and this started happening. I do not have a router, my modem directly connects to my computer. My modem drivers are up to date. After I thought about it a bit, I thought it was my Kaspersky AV causing the issues since it deals with internet security, so I uninstalled it.

All these things, and it still doesnt help at all. I am totally lost and have no clue on what to do.

If anyone has any ideas, or knows of any kind of program or way to find out what the problem is, it will be greatly appreciated.

Fixed, it seemed to be a really bad bug that has been going around, didnt catch the name of it. But adaware/spybot/KAV got rid of it. I had did a quick scan before with all 3, but i guess the full/deep scan was needed.

It isn't Subspace or coding related, so that is what Trash Talk is for; everything else.

Sweet, xxyyyvSJ.dll was the virus. It conveniently made itself look like plain old malware. It made it so winlogon.exe and explorer.exe were dependant on the .dll. So, I couldnt delete it while logged into windows. After a day of letting it be, it decided it wanted to start deleting .sys files. Which made a couple of things fail to start. So, loaded the WinXp CD, went into the recovery console and deleted the file without logging into XP. Relogged into XP, and the computer kept rebooting itself with tons of "Kernel system files could not be found" and all that good stuff. Needed to completely reinstall windows... icon_sad.gif

You could just have booted into safe mode or console and replaced it with the original winlogon.exe and explorer.exe from the dllcache. Usually malware misses to infect these backups.

There's another cache of these files that is created with the sp2 installation, but I can't rememeber where.
