You could check with CLT if the regions appear correctly to make sure it's not a dcme bug... But I just double-checked, it seems to work fine.

From your post, I'm not sure if you really understand what regions are. What are you trying to do?

100k? That's a little excessive. You sure you're doing them right?

http://forums.sscentral.com/index.php?showtopic=12890As he said there, he is using asss, and he wants the region to autowarp him.

and 100k... if you have several non-rectangular regions with alot of properties... i guess its possible... but it sure is quite a lot, even if DCME saves some extra elvl chunks (like.. 12 bytes for region color, 16 bytes for a map ID, and 4 bytes per custom bookmarks)
But I'd be curious to see how it goes up 100k of elvl data...

make sure you're loading funky:autowarp in modules.conf, and be more open in your responses rather than so sure of yourself ("yeah i do know").

Also, if you want you can attach the map here and we'll investigate why it's so much larger.

eLVL isnt that big in there, its big because:
1- 24bit tileset (140k)
2- 36000 tiles (x 4 bytes = 144k)

eLVL is only ... wtf 512 bytes when loaded, 400 bytes when saved back... weird...
But eLVL data is correct in that map (to view regions of the map in CLT, you need to import a 8bit tileset)

So it's probably something in your asss configuration

... Hm, now that i think of it, eLVL data with 24 bit tilesets is quite recent in the ASSS protocol... was it even included/fixed yet? (reference: https://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?t=6949)

WTF
for some reason Autowarp chunk does not seem to get saved... which explains the 112 bytes difference I just noticed...

Edit: Actually, it is saved correctly, it is just not loaded back correctly in DCME, so the halo_3.lvl is still supposed to work on a ASSS server... You might just notice that reloading it in dcme will make you lose your autowarp data... or actually just the 'is autowarp' flag will be missing, coordinates should still be there

Fixed

possible problem:does dcme type regions (i don't know if this matter's) need to be asss 1.4.3? i have 1.4.2 because i don't want to go through the hassle of moving all the file's over. maybe if you could tell me the updated file's(it looks like minimal update's) i could just replace them. ty

p.s. the patch didn't fix it

It was fixed, but didn't release the fix. I just posted the patch on ssforum if anyone else feels the need to fix that right now.

Now, I'm guessing you do need the latest ASSS version because of 24bit tileset support. This was fixed only around December 10th 2006 by Grelminar. Any asss version older than that might not be able to see eLVL data in a map with 24bit tileset.

As for the files, what I'd do is get the newest version, put it in a new folder, and then get everything you modified (.conf files, map files, any kind of settings) and copy them to that new folder, replacing any default files that were put there.
Or, just replace files such as .dll, .exe, and all other formats that you don't know about or files that you didn't have to bother with. Shouldn't be that much of an hassle.

Now i'm no asss expert, anyone correct me if i'm wrong in anything here.

Alright, i'll try that. I was just saying that if i transfer everything, it wouldn't be really an update, but you mentioned just to transfer .dll's, which sound's like that one be more efficient. ty

What does ?mapinfo give?

Could you also be extremely specific as to what the problem is that you're having? What are the symptoms?

As for playing in continuum, there is no elvl atall. when working on the map sometimes it loads and sometimes it doesn't. i try to save the elvl and not open it before i load as3 again to start my zone up.(as sampapico said to do). There is 4 "autowarps" and an no "anti" and a "no weapons". none work. Can i some start a new map and copy and paste the whole thing too a map made fresh from the new dcme with the fixed bug?

Continuum doesn't read the map's extra data at all. Only the server cares about it. You'll still see your weapons and antiwarp on the local client, so don't use that as your test (as I'm guessing you have been). Autowarp is more than a little confusing, and wouldn't be hard to mess up.

You could, but it wont change anything tongue.gif
And if you're using the latest patch, you can safely re-open it without losing eLVL data

And according to Dr Brain, you should get someone else to come to your zone to test it correctly I guess

...Nothing to do actually... you just... open your map and it's fine... The bug is totally fixed, so if any region stuff isn't working, its related to your AS3 configuration files, not to your map file. Just try it, check autowarp, save your map, close it, reopen it. Autowarp will still be there. If it's not, then you are not using the patch
